About W.C.B.A School
Since 1986,
the Wong Chinese Boxing Association has been teaching Jow Ga Kung Fu
to dedicated people. Our program is designed to build new students'
strength and flexibility before introducing them to the forms,
weapons, and self-defense aspects of the art. This requires
patience, perseverance, and both physical and mental toughness from
the students. A typical class includes warm-ups, strengthening
exercises, and drills to focus the mind and to teach important
techniques. In return, they may expect to learn to be able to
control their bodies and their minds under strenuous circumstances
and, after some time, to defend themselves if the need should arise.
There are many other advantages to the study of Jow Ga. One of the
most obvious is that it promotes good health. The classes tone and
fortify the body by stimulating the cardiovascular system and
exercising the muscles. Just as importantly, they sharpen the mind
and allow practitioners to better focus their energy on a task and
complete it successfully. In addition, a student learns self-control
through the practice of forms and weapons. These sets of movements
are complex and must be practiced many times before they are
perfected. In order to do so, students must learn to practice
consistently and efficiently without getting distracted.
